untouchability thrives in India atricle byPraful Bidwal in the Daily Excelsior of Dec,28,2014 makes an intresting reading,throughing all govt. claims that untouchability has either vanished or on decline in India.The writer gives statistical data to prove that untouchability is prevelent in india in a big way.He writes voluntary cofession who practise untouchability in percentages Brahmins(52),other high castes(24), OBC(33),Dalits(15)and Adivasis(22).Brahmins inrural area( 62) urban(39).worryfully Hindus(30),Jains(35),sikhs(23),Muslims(18)percent confessed to practise untouchability.Untouchability incidents in Hindu belt of India plus(40) percent incidents of untouchability.Atrocities on untouchables 4200(1995_2011) and304 (2012).Another very alarming fact revealed is that education does help but not much. Good Educated Brahmins(45) percent low educated(69) percent still confess to practise untouchability.If self coffession results are so horrifying,what to talk of actual percentage of people who practise untouchability.With no mind set change on caste andHome coming conversions by Hindus,the figures are bound to rise dramtically. The facts may be news to some high placed Indians,but it is time to ponder over the matter seriously by all Indians else some new problems may arise.To my mind all ills in India,majority are due to discriminations,may be caste,economic,education,extending legetimate saveguards at grassroot level. I propose that all Indians with human heart should read this basic article also.Those who have read it let re read it to join hands in erradicating ills in society.Dalits should also put their heads together to surch out solutions else they will continue to suffer for ages.with out prejudices
