#vasurge when did we as a country decide that grapsing at the proverbial straws of the politically possible rather than reaching for the stars for #veterans was good enough? When did we agree to compromise on taking care of the best of us in favor of meaningless partisan pandering? When did it become okay to argue about whether the cost of war included the cost of caring for those who fought them? When did it become okay to value the interests of organized labor over the care of veterans? When did it become okay to stand by while our elected leaders, or for that matter, the press cheer an inch of progress as if it were circumnavigating the Earth? We have miles to go before we sleep if we have a prayer of restoring the trust of our nationss veterans. I pray we all decide its worthwhile to earn that trust back. It wont be easy and it wont happen by the midterms.
