via Harry Burger The anarcho-libertarian attitude of "just let the market decide!" is only realistically sustainable if there is an easy way to guarantee that any and all negative impacts will be entirely and quickly paid for by the producers. So in 20 years if cancer rates skyrocket because of Roundup, Monsanto alone bears the costs of all that treatment, without victims needing the resources to sue and survive all the appeals. It also requires transparency, so the end user can always and easily make an informed choice. And there must be an alternative available. Or we can tolerate some regulations.
