was able to get out of the house today for a ride. Its been the first time since the last surgery in September. It was outstanding! I left mid morning and the temps were in the mid 50s and a beautiful cloud free sky that was that deep pure air blue. As I passed the fields, I saw the winter wheat crops peaking their green heads out of the ground. They look good at this point. The roads drew me towards the curves of the Ozarks. I could not resist. Since the sun was low on the horizon, the apexs were tough to see so I kept it at about 5/10s of effort. Only had 1 moment when a dude walking a dog without a leash walked out of the ditch on one side and the pup on the other side. A favorite BBQ joint was the planned stop and I got there just in time to beat the noon rush. I was served a great hot sausage and a northern tea. When I started to suite up, I let the bike do its start up routine and noticed a warning on the dash. Yep, front tire was low. I topped it off with my MotoPump and headed to the local shop. This is the same tire that I has patched about 4,000 miles ago. The tires were Metzler Z8s. I never did like them and this gave me an excuse to replace both with Pilot Road 4s. The Bentonville shop got me right in and a reasonable time later the bike was ready. The new tires where smoother than the old (ifn you can call 4,500 miles old) While waiting, I saw a R9T be sold and a couple of used bikes leave. One guy was eyeing a K1600GTLE that was center stage. I wonder what my 14 RT would look like in pearl white? A couple of things I noticed today, the sat radio would loose its link a few times to many, it seems to need a better antenna. The new rear shock is breaking in and the ride is smoother. A 30 mph tail wind really helps with gas mileage. Alices Restaurant is a good album to listen to on days like this. Mid 70s is about the best temperature for a Rallye II jacket on the RT with out the liner. All in all, its a good day to be alive and on two wheels. I hope yll had a great day also. Now to have a single malt and a Cuban seed/ rolled fatty.
