we are a low pressure people in a high pressure system waiting for the rain in shacks on hillsides and creeks and valleys washouts and burnouts we bathe ourselves in mud the cities we left behind are sand upon sand the invisible hand is a dream we have dreamt for too long we are awakening now we are breathing now without guilt or fear without judicial obligation to drive us and hide us and bind us we try to read the wind and we count on the erosion to fill the things that must be filled and wash the rest away
