well this brought back lots of memories from 8th grade marine biology camp in Lewes. It was for 2 weeks and we lived in the old barracks at Cape Henlopen, before it was a state park. One of our adventures was going out off of Lewes Bay in little motor boats and baiting shark traps. (I still cant believe I did this) Bright and early the next morning, we hauled in our catch. Since there were a couple of saltwater tanks in the lab, we thought we were just going to measure and study the small sharks. I dont even know what kind they were. But, nooooooo. AFTER BREAKFAST WE DISSECTED THEM IN TEAMS OF 3!!! There were only 4 girls in the camp, out of 16, total kids. Two groups got sharks that happened to be PREGNANT!! Guess which group I was in??? We puked our pancakes in the big white plastic slop buckets, and kept right on going. Well, between the already strong fishy smell, the puke, and the quite unexpected squirming live babies; 5 kids FAIINTED! I am proud to say, not one of them was a girl!!! But the whole experience got to all of us, and that night, the NIGHTMARES were rampant. Ive never heard such screaming, yelling and crying in my life. Oh, yeah, I was screaming, too! Finally, around 3am, the counselors gave up and herded us all outside for a bonfire. We all finally fell asleep right before dawn, counselors included. That is one summer experience I will never forget. I started the 2 weeks really wanting to be a marine biologist...I ended the 2 weeks very undecided.
