when my kids were growing up I would go without things so that they could have food clothes etc. no money for cigs beer etc. that was the way things went at my house. if I make someone mad then you think how your kids may feel when nothing to eat and wearing no new clothes for school you got money for your cigs and beer wine or what ever dinner was early so kids could do home work and get to bed early may have had beans and things to stretch yes things are more expencsive now with cost of living . Learn to buy cheaper cuts of meat plan food menu for a week if need be you know what the kids like but sometimes we have to go without that steak it is not cheap once in awhile as a treat.
