....where is our articulated position? ...are they S-M-A-R-T? As the most traumatized ethnic nation, approaching an all time National Conference in Nigeria, we should be contemplating various issues that will be brought before an assemblage of various ethnic nationalities, otherwise, Ndigbo will be seen as a people not showing a sustained desirability towards their interest in Nigeria. Northern, Western and Southern Leaders Conferences are being organized and broadcast regularly in our media, while such ethnic digestion of the purpose and intent of the on-coming National Conference was not given such pride of place in the region considered most traumatized. Such complacency is defeating and suggests that the main purpose of the conference is a gang-up against Ndigbo and to further marginalize us, by these ethnic conferences, if not, where is the “Southeastern Leaders Conference?” It may be considered a gang-up against Ndigbo because, they are the only people who may actually not be able to come together on time to articulate their views in the way other ethnic nationalities are doing their “mini-confab”, sensitizing and informing their people and are expected to come to the National Conference, well prepared, well researched and achieve a superior position. As things stands, if at all there have been any views, how will it be articulated, with a superior proposition to elicit the required support of the other nationalities? Marshaling out our desired points or agenda is not the problem, but to advance and sustain the tempo. Again, bearing in mind that this is a Nigerian conference, political engineering and strategic planning must be at the top stratum. With full knowledge of the level of the conspiracy to marginalize Ndigbo, as a result of the Nigeria/Biafra Civil War, it is also an incontrovertible fact that the Frederick Lugard`s 1914 Amalgamation that brought us together need a revisit. My point therefore is how can we articulate our superior proposition to persuade the various opposing views, if any to achieve our collective objective? Our position must begin with the end in mind and identify the reasons why we should remain in Nigeria, if we are still being marginalized, killed, maltreated, hated, deported, dehumanized, ridiculed and discriminated against in the equitable distribution of positions and commonwealth of Federal Republic of Nigeria. Our propositions will include, but not limited to the following: 1. State Creation & Local Governments. 2. Compensation loss of funds on State & LGs. 3. Igbo Presidency in 2015. 4. Southeast Development Corporation. 5. LG Autonomy. 6. Second River Niger Bridge. 7. Self-Determination. 8. Civil War Compensation for lost lives. 9. Post-Civil War Compensation for 20 pounds. If the above views, in my opinion, are discounted, what then should we understand, as the reason for attending the conference, as well as the expected outcome, or are we just interested in the jamboree? If also these views are not relevant, the question that will agitate our minds will be why are we in Nigeria? Ndigbo, pass your comments, to add or remove your choice of demand which will guide our able representatives at the conference. We will have ourselves to blame, if we come out of this conference worse than we are. God Bless Ndigbo.
