with all of the escalating budgets of counties, states, and the federal government, there needs to be an alternative to incarcerating the amount of our people like we do in America. prison should be reserved for our most violent offenders and jails should be for minor punishment and not retribution. America locks up more of its people than any other nation in the world, and even after time has been served the courts will still hold a record over a ex-cons head that prevents them from getting meaningful work again, also if one is tried and found not guilty the system will hold a charging record which can hinder good employment which can cause a ex-con to turn back to crime. Just because a person served time does not mean they cannot be a good citizen again.
