with your friends and family. Heart attacks can happen to anyone regardless of how healthy they live, look, or their age. Many of you know me personally from businesses in town or through Fb. My posts are often pretty, colorful, healthy food pics and sunset pics on very long walks or my yoga practice. I looked okay even very healthy most the time but there were signs, many signs, that were kept private out of fear and denial. I now see very clearly why 3.5 years ago I quit my successful career as a Realtor due to sheer exhaustion. I emptied my desk at night after hours I retreated to the safety of home where there were few people to criticize me and make judgements. I was tired of trying to explain discomfort or i how I felt, all after all it was a mystery to me. How do I explain something that is overwhelming, Painful, elusive or manageable at times. Yes, I went to the Dr. He did blood work and treated me for a hormone deficiency. He didnt like the pain management meds I was taking for my neck, he re-did the whole enchilada. I asked how my body was going to respond, Its gonna love it he responded. The meds he wrote for were overwhelming and I got sicker very sick and it seemed everyone had an opinion....I was tired, as time went on I I felt a bit better off and on but not well enough to return to work and that was life shattering and depressing especially on top of an existing neck problem. Nothing seemed to work properly for me. Drs. were perplexed and simply stated for some people there were complications, complications from neck treatments and procedures that work for most everyone except me. Eventually when least expecting it I had a heart attack. Thankfully I recognized it for what it was right away. Every second counted and lucky for for me I was not a statistic and I am here to encourage all of you to be aware and always consider the fact that 1. It can happen to you. 2. It can be masked by other stressors and or conditions including a childbirth 3. You will even feel guilty and try to be up-beat and an overcomer 4.You may feel great for a few days, weeks or months off and on 5. Dr.s may diagnose it as something else 5. You will need a support system a good one and some of those will disappoint you 6. You may feel better after a long walk or mild exercise 8, Things that you should be able to do will be difficult 8.Medicines may make you worse I took all mine back to the Dr. and said, no thank you!!!!! 9.You may become less passionate about your favorite things perhaps they just wont interest you anymore, nothing will !0. You may be short tempered and snap at people on the phone / internet or even those closest to you. Do not give up on You. You are not a quitter, hypochondriac, mental case, or a pessimist.......your body is failing somewhere and quite possibly it could be your heart. Be aware of how much different you are than normal. Unchecked heart problems can eventually ruin relationships or strain them at best. Love yourself first and insist your heart be checked (I did, I should had done more often), If symptoms continue you still have a problem. Consider changing Drs. and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to exercise bc the healthier you are in general the better you will fare in the event of a heart attack. I will talk to anyone who needs a support system or who has questions. I am here for reason and I hope I can encourage all of you to get healthy or stay healthy. Post message me on Fb. * Dr. Gill in Palmdale is a very amazing cardiologist and comes to Ridgecrest every month. * Palmdale Regional Medical Center staff was incredible
