woke up this morning feeling surprisingly rested and staring three hours of non-rehearsal, non-photographic time squarely in the face. a bit out of practice i grabbed “the river why” and stumbled to the hot tub. after 40 pages or so and feeling rather extra wrinkly, i set the book down and found myself staring at our tomatillo plant, slowly dying on the back deck. it grew to monstrous proportions on the mix of yard dirt and llama poop that hollie prepared for it, but unlike the tomatoes which flourished all around it, stubbornly refused to move beyond “decorative”. it produced literally hundreds of intricate paper lanterns, only a handful of which ever contained pea to radish sized tomatillos. its either an object lesson or a simple horticultural goof.
