Completed work is reviewed for compliance with guidelines and the nature and propriety of the final results TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must obtain the required minimum documented training as set forth by Florida Law. Must obtain the required training as set forth by the Columbia County Fire Department. Must maintain Florida State Firefighter Certification. High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work preferred. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years preferred but not required. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of fire-fighting, rescue and extrication techniques. Knowledge of fire-fighting apparatus and equipment. Knowledge of and/or be willing to learn the geography, streets, buildings, and fire hydrant locations of the city. Knowledge of first aid and CPR principles and applications. Knowledge of potential fire hazards. Knowledge of hazardous materials required within first six months. Knowledge of building construction and basic mechanics. Skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal relations. Contacts are typically with co-workers, fire and emergency victims, law enforcement personnel, utility company representatives, other emergency personnel, and the general public.
