youtu.be/i5EM8CHaoAM 7th Jan 2015 Lucky Alty Update: (Lucky is the little kitten cruelly thrown from a moving van 29/12/14) The specialist vet examined Lucky the news is promising & with continued support Lucky has a very good chance of leading a long and happy life: The specialist found that the back leg where the foot was ripped off still has the malleolus in place (her ankle bones) which is great news as it means a prosthetic limb can be anchored too it. Also, the infection was under control and that 80% of the wound was nice and healthy, they said that Lucky was already prepped and needed her wound to be debrided and cleaned out and they were in a position to do it there and then. We agreed to this straight away to prevent further infection from spreading – we were able to do this thanks to you all for raising enough funds for the operation to take place - The vet said you have given her the chance to undo some of the bad things that have happened to her and the opportunity to lead a long and happy life ... what an amazing feeling we cannot thank you enough! We are very pleased to say Lucky is now out of the surgery and the operation to clean and close her wound has gone well. She needs 2 weeks to recover so is returning back to Joondalup Vets so they can keep the wound clean and ensure she does not put pressure on it so it can heal. Heres the options now guys..... When the wound from her rear leg has healed she will probably need the paralysed front leg amputated, another big operation, bless her. 1) The vet says that cat skin is quite tough so if she is an indoor cat she could manage on two and a half limbs, we would have to make sure she doesnt walk on any rough surfaces and she may get a bit of growth from the stump as sometimes compensatory growth happens, but this is very uncertain. 2) Lucky could have a prosthetic limb; she could either have a limb that is strapped onto the stump or a titanium implant into the bone which a prosthetic limb attaches to. It was highlighted that the prosthetic options are quite costly, around $3750(AUD) for one which attaches to a stump and double that for the titanium one as these have to be specially made. As Lucky is so young she may need a smaller one first and then a larger one. Lucky has a long road to recovery ahead of her but one she can win with your help, She’s here because of all of the love and support from you all and deserves so very much to be here. So please keep spreading the word and help raise donations so she can get back on her feet; no matter how small or large every donation really helps Lucky in her bid to win this battle x
