Through my time at Radio Charlie in 1982, he opened my eyes to contemporary Italian music. His mix of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Samba, Reggae, etc. was incredible. I was fortunate to see him live, with my wife, for his first appearance ever in the US in 2009 at the Historic Apollo Theater in Harlem in New York City. The reception he received that night from the Napolitani of New York was something usually reserved for a heroic figure. It was then that I realized that he was indeed that to the people of Naples, a hero, a dream of success that they all lived through him......LAnima di Napoli. We play much of his music in our restaurant in South Carolina and Napule E is used for the background score for our website. You will be missed. Grazie Pino!!
