youtube/watch?v=Sc8uMzRSXuY I just had an etherial moment. My pandora begins to play Bach Cello Suite No. 5 in C minor while I am reading the South Carolina Ordinance of Secession From the Union. In my mind I could see president Lincoln a long suffering insomniac in his late night study dimly lit by the flicker of an oil lamp reading the declaration of secession. The cello moans and sighs its somber tale as I hear his voice read the words the government can not endure half slave and half free. When his reading is done the document held by his long spindled fingers falls to his knee, his consistently towering spine sinks into a presidential chair from the weight of the inevitable war. A few fun Lincoln stuff in stuffs, My Mom owns a leather bound photo album from the civil war era that holds a photograph of President Lincoln along with photos of other civil war era persons. I visited Fords Theater and The Taylor house where Lincoln was shot and died when the summer I turned 17, sans parents. The beds of the time including the Taylor House bed were to short for Lincolns abnormally tall stature. The blood stained linens were preserved and are on display, they travel from museum to museum. The overcoat Lincoln was wearing when shot was made by Brooks Brothers and has an eagle and one country one destiny embroidered into the fabric.
