There are a couple of moments that, when Cameron actually explores Barra, are just plain unexplainable (currently). He seems to be looking at the beach and watching his memories at the same time. He looks at the walls of what he says is his Barra House and searches for things that are gone. He seems afraid to let cold reality chill the warmth of his memories. There are enough inconsistencies to justify wholesale dismissal of the story but, to me, these only make the consistencies harder to explain. And, if you wanted to go the “evil schemer’s hoax” explanation route, don’t. Sorry, but none of these people seem that cunning or that commercial. Frankly, I’ve had memories of other lives myself. I’m cynic enough to understand that I could create them and I was in a situation that prompted for some kind of memory. But I’m careful enough to be sure that I didn’t attempt to create the complete visual presence of some of the memories and the emotional impact of others.. They just occurred like any memory.
