Ακούει η κυρία υπουργός του τουρισμού; TO THE MINISTER OF TOURISM Dear Olga Kefalogianni, As Director of the musical movie Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep, I am writing to protest in the strongest terms over the current proposals to privatise your coastline. You gave the greatest gift to us and our cinema audience worldwide. Island locations of unparalleled beauty. It is unimaginable to those of us associated with the film - proud to celebrate the glorious islands of Skopelos and Sciathos - that your astoundingly beautiful coasts could be put up for auction in this way. The entire world views Greece as one of the last unspoilt destinations - this is surely your unique selling point - which combined with your great archeological history secures your place as a paradise on the earths planet. We came to Greece to film because you offered this beauty but we would never have considered it had the coasts been crowded with hotels and developments. Once this line has been stepped over there is no going back, as the horrific coastlines of some of the rest of Europe demonstrate. We all recognize, of course, that the disastrous economic downturn has had a profoundly adverse effect on Greece. However, I feel passionately that to risk the commercialization of your unique contribution to cultural heritage would be short term gain for long term ruin - devastating for the future of your country and, indeed, the world at large. With All Very Best Wishes, Phyllida Lloyd Phyllida Lloyd CBE news247.gr/eidiseis/skhnothetis_mamma_mia_swste_tis_ekplhktikhs_omorfias_aktes_sas.2969550.html
