הבדלה Havdalah HAVDALAH, marking the end of Shabbat (Hebrew: הַבְדָּלָה, meaning separation) is a Hebraic ceremony that marks the symbolic end of Shabbat and holidays, and ushers in the new week. Shabbat ends on Saturday night after the appearance of three stars in the sky. Some communities delay the Havdalah in order to prolong Shabbat. Havdalah is a set of prayers recited at the end of Shabbat and at the end of each holy day, and its service includes blessings over the lights of a special braided candle, over spices, and over Fruit drink. The service is called havdalah because the word means “separation” and represents the separation or distinction between a holy day and the ordinary days that follow it. Baruch atah, Eloheinu Melech haolam, hamavdil bein kodesh lchol, bein or lchoshech, bein Yisrael laamim, bein yom hash-vi-i lsheishet ymei hamaaseh. Baruch atah Eloheinu, hamavdil bein kodesh lchol. We praise You, Eternal Elohim, Sovereign of the universe: You distinguish the commonplace from the holy; You create light and darkness, Israel and the nations, the seventh day of rest and the six days of labor. We praise You, O Elohim: You call us to distinguish the commonplace from the holy
