He live in London in one room with his family.His father, John ,was a thief . Tom also had to steal to help his family eatand drink .Andrew , a very kind man , live with them. He taught Tom to read ,write and be polite .Every night , he told Tom stories about kings and princes.Tom dreamed about becoming a prince . He wanted to be rich and to live in apalace . Tom often visited the palace in London. one day , one of the soldiers guardingthe palace saw the poor boy and was angry . He hit Tom hard across his face .The prince in the palace saw the soldier hit Tom and felt angry at the guard .He invited Tom into the palace . The prince introduce himself to Tom as Edward. Edward seemed very interested to hear about Tom’s life . After asking manyquestions . he said I wish I could do the things that you do . Tomcouldn’t believe his ears. Why would a prince want to live like a poor boy?Edward suddenly had an idea that he and Tom should change clothes . Tom nowlook like a prince , and Edward a poor boy . Edward left the palace to walkaround London . He saw some schoolboys but when he told them that he was theprince , they laughed and said no you are only a poor boy theythen threw him into the river .Edward got out and was cold and dirty . He feltalone and frightened . Later that day, John and Andrew found Edward in an alley, come home Tom said John .I am not Tom. I am princeEdward replied Edward. John laughed and told Edward he had to go home .Edward was sad and afraid . John was very angry and would not believed whatEdward was saying about being the prince . Later , John took Edward into thestreets of London . Andrew told John not to steal . This made John even moreangry and he hit Andrew so hard that he died . people saw me kill Andrew John said to Edward . we have to leave ! Edward couldn’tleave –he had to get back to the palace , suddenly, news came that the king wasill and had died that morning. Edward was now king, but no one believe him . The next day ,in the palace Tom woke up to find himself no longer a prince , aking! Many people came to see him. One man called Lord Harford told Tom that he hadto get ready to be crowned king. But all Tom wanted to do was to play by theriver. this is a beautiful palace Tom said to himself . my clothesare beautiful and the food is wonderful ,but I want to go home , I don’t wantto be king Tom was taken to the palace to be crowned king .Suddenly ,Edward walked intothe palace ,Tom knelt down and said I am very pleased to see you, myking . Lord Harford and the important men there were surprised to see theprince bowing to a poor boy . Lord Harford looked from Tom to Edward and thenback to Tom again they have the same hair and the same eyes Lord Harfordsaid they speak the same ,perhaps this boy is not the prince ! I am not a poor boy Edward announced I can tell you wherethe king’s stamp is . You will find it behind the mirror in my bed room, I putit there Lord Harford ordered a guard to go and look for it . After ashort while , the guard return with the king’s stamp , it was found whereEdward said it would. The two boys changed clothes again and Edward was crowned king .He was a verygood king because he knew how poor people lived . He invited Tom to live withhim in the palace. They were good friends . Tom never saw his cruel fatheragain and lived a happy live . When he was older he decided to write his story. He called it The Prince and the Pauper ترجمة ألقصه كان تومكانتي ولد فقير جدا. انه يعيش في لندن في غرفة واحده مع عائلته. وكان والده ، جون، لص . كما كان توم يسرق ايضا لمساعدة عائلتهلتأكل وتشرب . اندرو ، وهو رجل طيب جدا ، ويعيش معهم. علم توم ان يقرأ ويكتب ويكونمهذبا.و كل ليلة يحكي لتوم قصص الملوك و الامراء. فاصبح يحلم توم حول ان يصبحالأمير . إنه اراد أن يكون غني ويعيش في قصرا.زار توم مرة ما قصر في لندن . واحد من الجنود الحرس الذين يحرسون القصر, رأى الصبي الفقير و كان غاضبا. ولقد ضرب توم بقوة في جميع أنحاء وجهه.الأمير في القصر رأى الجندي يضرب توم وشعر بالغضب على الحارس . فدعا توم الىالقصر. قدم الاميرنفسه لتوم بأنه يدعى إدوارد. بدا إدوارد مهتم جدا أن يسمع عنحياة توم. بعد توجيه الكثير من الأسئلة. قال أتمنى أن أفعل الأشياء التي كنتتفعلها . توم لا يمكن أن يصدق أذنيه. لماذا يريد أميراأن يعيش مثل صبي فقير؟ وفجأة جائت فكرة لادوارد انه وتوم ينبغي ان يغيروا الملابس. تومبدا الآن وكأنه الأمير ، وإدوارد صبي فقير . غادر ادوارد القصر ليتجول في لندن ورأى بعض تلاميذالمدارس , و لكن عندما قال لهم انه كان الأمير ،فإنهم ضحكوا وقالوا لا انت مجرد ولد فقير ثم ألقوا به في النهر ، خرج إدوارد وكان باردا وقذر. وشعر انه وحيدا وخائف.وبعد ذلك اليوم ، وأندرو وجون وجدوا إدوارد فيزقاقتعال توم الى البيت قال جون : أنا لست توم ، أنا الأميرادواردتعال توم الى البيت قال جون : أنا لست توم ، أناالأمير ادوارد أجاب إدوارد : ضحك جون واخبر إدوارد انه يجب ان يذهب الى البيت كان إدواردحزينا وخائفا وكان جون غاضب جدا ولم يصدق ما قاله إدوارد بكونه اميرا و بعد ذلك ،اخذ جون إدوارد في في شوارع لندن . أندرو طلب من جون ان لايسرق وهذا الامر جعل جون يزداد غضبا فضرب اندرو بقوه طرحه ميتاالناس رآني اقتل أندرو قال جون ل إدوارد. يجب ان نغادر !لا يستطيع ادوارد المغادره معه و عليه العوده للقصر. و فجأه وصلت الاخبار ان الملكمرض و مات ذلك الصباح. ادوارد سوف يكون هو الملك الان و لكن لا احد يصدقه . و فياليوم الثاني ,في القصر استيقظ توم ليجد نفسه لا محاله هو الملك و الامير. العديدمن الناس جاءو لرؤيته و احد الرجال و يدعي اللورد هارفرد اخبر توم بأن يستعد ليتوجملكا ولكن كل ما يريده توم هو ان يلعب في النهر . هذاقصر جميل قال توم لنفسه ملابسي جميله و الطعام رائع ولكن اريد اناعود الى البيت لا اريد ان اكون ملكا اخذ توم الىالقصر ليتوج ملكا و فجأءه جاء ادوارد الى القصر ركع له توم وقال انا جدامسرور لرؤيتك يا اميري . اللورد هارفرد و الرجال المهمين هناك كانوامندهشين لرؤية الامير ينحني لولد فقير. اللورد ارفرد نظر من توم الى ادوارد و عادمرة اخرى الى توم يملكوننفس الشعر و نفس العيون قال هارفرد يتكلمون نفس الصوت , قد يكون هذاالولد ليس الامير . انالست ولدا فقير اعلن ادوارد و استطيع ان اخبركم اين يكون ختم الملك ,ستجدونه خلف المرآة في غرفة نومي انا وضعته هناك امر اللورد هارفرد حارسهان يذهب و يبحث عنه . وبعد لحظه قصيره , رجع الحارس و معه ختمالملك لقد وجده حيث قال ادوارد غيير الاولادالملابس مرة اخرى وتوج ادوارد ملكا , وكان ملكا جيدا لانه عرف كيف يعيش الناسالفقراء ولقد دعى توم ان يعيش معه في القصر وهم اصدقاء جيدين . توم لم يرى ابوهالقاسي مرة أخرى و عاش حياة سعيدة وعندما أصبح كبيرا قرر ان يكتب قصته و التيسماها الأمير و الفقير ------------------------------------------------------------ كاتب ألقصه : Mark Tawin ( Samuel Langhorne ) مكان ألقصه : England ( London ) زمان ألقصه : 1547 أهم الشخصيات :Tom Canty الصبي الفقير Andrew معلمتوم كانتي القراءه و الكتابه Edward الامير( الملك بعد والده ) John والدتوم كانتي و هو لص Lord Harford رجلمهم في قصر الملك موضوع ألقصه : childhood نوع ألقصه : funny and interesting الدرسالأخلاقي للقصة :If you live a poor life , you know howthe poor people live meaning Vocabulary ركع Knelt down ينحني Bowing يتوج ملكا Crowned ختم Stamp قصر Palace زقاق Alley قاسي Cruel اقتراحات بعضالاسئله : 1-Who was Tom Canty? = (he was a poor boy ) 2-Where did Tom Canty live? = (in one room in London ) 3-Who was Tom Canty’s father? = (John , he was a thief ) 4-What was Tom Canty’s father? = ( he was a thief ) 5-Who was John? = ( he was Tom Canty’s father, he was a thief ) 6-Why did Tom Canty have to steal? = ( help his family eat and drink ) 7-Who was Andrew? = (kind man , teach Tom read ,write and be polite ) 8-How did Anderw help Tom Canty? = (taught him read ,write and be polite ) 9-Who was Tom Canty’s teacher? = (Andrew ) 10-Who was Edward? = ( he was the prince ) 11-Why John kill Andrew? = ( because he told him not to steal a gain ) 12-Why the stamp is important in the story ? = ( it recognize the real prince ) 13- Who died in the story ? = ( the king , Andrew ) 14-Why Edward want to be Tom ? = (to things that Tom did ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Fruits of Labour Shazia Andaleeb There once lived a rich businessman who had a lazy and fun- loving son . Thebusinessman wanted his son to be hard-working and responsible. He wanted him torealise the value of labour and effort. He didnt want his son to be lazy. One day he called his over son and said, Today, I want you to go out andearn something, if you dont, then you won’t have your meals tonight. The boy was callous and cunning, and not used to any kind of work. This demandby his father scared him and he went crying straight to his mother. Her heart melted at the sight of tears in her son’s eyes. She grew restless. Ina bid to help him she gave him a gold coin. In the evening when the father asked his son what he had earned, the sonpromptly presented him the gold coin, thinking that the father would think thatthe boy had earned the money from doing some work. But the father asked the boy to throw the gold coin into a well. So the son didas he was told. The father was a man of wisdom and experience and guessed that the coin wasgiven to him by the boy’s mother. The next day he sent his wife to her parent’s town and asked his son to go andearn something with the threat of being denied the night meals if he failed. This time he went crying to his sister who sympathised with him and gave him agold coin out of her own savings. When his father asked him what he had earned, the boy showed the coin that hissister gave him. The father again asked him to throw it in a well. The son did it quite readily. Again the father’s wisdom told him that the coin was not earned by his son. Hethen sent his daughter to her in-laws’ house. He again asked his son to go out and earn with the threat that he shall nothave anything for dinner that night. But this time since there was no one to help him out, the son was forced to goto the market in search of work. One of the shopkeepers there told him that he would pay him two coins if hecarried his trunk to his house. The rich man’s son could not refuse and wasdrenched in sweat by the time he finished the job. His feet were trembling andhis neck and back were aching. There were even rashes on his back. As hereturned home and produced the two coins before his father and was asked tothrow them into the well, the horrified son almost cried out. He could not imagine throwing his hard-earned money like this. He said amidsobbing, Baba! My entire **** is aching. My back has rashes and you areasking me to throw this money into the well? At this the old man smiled. He told him that a person feels the pain only whenthe fruits of hard labour are wasted. On earlier two occasions he was helped byhis mother and sister and therefore had no pain in throwing the coins into thewell. The son had now realised the value of hard work. He vowed never to be lazy andlook after his father’s wealth. The father handed over the keys of his shop tothe son and promised to guide and help him through the rest of the life. ترجمة ألقصه كان هناكيعيش رجل أعمال غني وعنده ولداً كسولاً محباً اللعب. أراد الرجل ابنه أن يكونمسؤولاً وعامل بجد . أراده ان يدرك قيمة العمل و في احد الأيام استدعى ابنه وقالله أريدك اليوم أن تخرج و تكسب شيئاً (نقودا) وإذا لم تفعل سوف لا تحصل علىوجبات الطعام للعشاء لهذه ألليله كان الولدمحتالاً وقاسي القلب ولا يعمل أي عمل . وطلب أبوه هذا أخافه كثيرا فذهب باكياً إلىأمه مباشرةً , فقد رقّ قلبها على منظر الدموع في عيني ولدها وأصبحت غير مرتاحةلذلك الأمر. وفي السعي (المحاولة ) لمساعدته , أعطته نقود ذهبيه .وعندما عاد في المساء عندما طلب الأب من ولده ما حصل عليه . اخرج الولد النقودفوراً .بعدها طلب الأب منه أن يرميها في البئر ففعل الابن كما قيل له . الأب هو رجلألحكمه و الخبرة حيث خمن (تنبأ ) إن مصدر النقود كان أم الولد, فقام في اليومالثاني بإرسال زوجته إلى مدينه والديها وطلب من ابنهأن يذهب ويحصل على شيئاً مع التهديد في حرمانه من وجبه طعام الليل إذا هو اخفق .وفي هذه المرة ذهب باكياً إلى أخته والتي تعاطفت معه فأعطته روبية (عمله نقدية) منما ادخرته . وعندما طلب منه أبوه ما كسب اليوم , رمى الولدالنقود لوالده . طلب الأب مرة أخرى ان يرمي النقود في البئر . فعل الولد ذلكباستعداد كبير. حكمة الأب أخبرته مرة أخرى ان النقود لم تكسب من جهد ابنه .لذلكأرسل ابنته الى بيت زوجة ابنه . مرة أخرى طلب من ابنه ان يخرج ويكسب مع تهديد انهسوف لا يتناول اي شيء في الليل للعشاء . وفي هذهالمرة ,حيث لا احد يساعده , أٌجبر الولد في الذهاب للسوق والبحث عن عمل .اخبره احدحراس السوق انه سيدفع له روبيتين اذا حمل له صندوقه الكبير الى البيت .فلم يرفضابن الرجل الغني . وقد تبلل بعرقه في الوقت الذي أنهى فيه العمل .كانت قدميه ترتعش,و رقبته وظهره تؤلمانه وكانت هناك طفح جلدي على ظهره .رجع الى البيت واظهرالروبيتين وقبل ان يطلب منه الاب ان يرميها في البئر , بكى الولد المرعوب فلميتصور ان يرمى جهده الشاق في البئر في هذه السهوله . فقال منتحباً :بابا,جسمي يؤلمني بالكامل ,ظهري بدا عليه طفحاً جليدي وانت تطلب مني ان ارمي النقود فيالبئر وهكذا ابتسمالرجل الكبير واخبره ان الشخص يشعر بالالم فقط عندما تبذر ثمار عمله . في المرتينالأوليتين لقد ساعدوه من قبل امه و اخته لذلك لم يشعر بالالم عند رمي النقود فيالبئر .ادرك الابن ألان قيمة العمل الشاق وقسَمَ (وعد) ان لا يكون كسولاً و انيعتني بثروة ابوه . سلم الاب مفاتيح المحل (دكان ) الى ولده ووعده ان يرشده ويساعده لبقية حياته . كاتب ألقصه : Shazai Andaleeb موضوع ألقصه : The value of hard working نوع ألقصه : Moral Islamic tale الدرسالأخلاقي للقصة :The value of hard work and cares offamily Labour = work عمل,جهد Summoned = called استدعى Callous = cruel قاسي القلب cunning=artful مكار , شاطر demand = request طلب scare = frightened أخاف drenched تبللعرقاً Threw = tossed رمى Well = بئراً Vowed = promise = swear حلفَ . وعد َ Sympathy = kind تعاطف . رأف Sobbing = crying ينتحب . يبكي Trunk = a big box صندوق كبير Aching = pain يؤلم اقتراحات بعضالاسئله : 1-What was the message ( moral lesson) of the story? (His mother and sister ) The War ofthe Worlds By: Herbert George Wells One day in 1894, I saw a brilliant light on Mars. Scientists had also seen lotsof explosions on the planet. They did not know it, but Martian spaceships hadtaken off. They were planning to attack Earth. A colony of Martians wanted to move to Earth because it is warmer than Mars anda better place to live. Martian technology was much more advanced than ours.But the Martians were not friendly creatures; they wanted to destroy Earth andeat all the people. A few days later, a Martians spaceship landed in the south of England. Amazed,people came to watch. They tried to communicate with the Martians. They triedspeaking and sent signals, but the Martians did not understand. A Martianclimbed out of the spaceship and took one of the people, a shop assistant, whostarted to scream. The Martians used a special gun to shoot at the peoplewatching. I was the only man who escaped. I went straight to my village to tellthe people. Ive seen creatures from Mars, I said, they havelanded near here and they have killed many people, but no one believedme. So I went to London and told the newspapers there. They just laughed at mystory. Then the second spaceship landed. This time soldiers came to the area. I couldhear fighting and I took my wife to a safe place, then I went to see what washappening. I saw an enormous Martian fighting machine. Soldiers tried todestroy the fighting machine with guns, but the guns had no effect. Thefighting machine shot the soldiers, and, with its advanced technology, killedmost of them. In London, I saw five fighting machines, and hid in an old building. Thefighting machines fired a black gas that killed the soldiers who were trying tostop them. The people of London were frightened by this terrible event and started toleave the city. Thousands of people left on bikes, by train and on foot. Somepeople went to other countries by boat. But I stayed in London because I wantedto find my wife. I hid in another building, hoping I would be safe, but aspaceship landed on top and collapsed, trapping me in a room inside. From theroom, I could see the Martians close up. I saw them picking up people andputting them in baskets. I watched the Martian creatures for a long time. Theycommunicated by thinking. More and more Martian spaceships landed in Englandand more and more people died. The were winning the war of the worlds… I had eaten all the food in the room and had drunk all the drink. I had toleave the room, even though I knew it was dangerous. I walked alone through thestreets of London and saw the destruction of the city. Then I heard a strangenoise coming from one of the fighting machines that had fallen to the ground.Inside, I saw a dead Martian. I walked through the streets and saw that all theMartians had died. The Martians had invented spaceships to attack Earth, andhad used technology to kill people. But their bodies were not prepared forEarths illnesses. They had no cure and they all died. I have seen the destruction of London, but I have also seen the Martiansdie, I told the people I met. The news of the Martians destruction wentaround England. I left London and went back to my house in the country. It was empty. Then Iheard a noise in the garden. I looked out of the ** and saw my wife. Shewas alive and safe. I felt fantastic. But my worries had not all disappears. There are important lessons to learn from the Martian attack on Earth. We havekept a Martian **** and put in the History Museum. Now men will have to try andgo into space. It is important that men go to places that the Martians havealready visited. If we do not get the technology that the Martians alreadyhave, perhaps the Martians will attack again. فييوم من أيام العام 1894 رأيت ضوءً ساطعا على كوكب المريخ. لاحظ العلماء أيضاالكثير من الانفجارات على سطح الكوكب و لكنهم لم يدركوا حقيقة الأمر. و لكن سفنالفضاء الخاصة بالمريخيين كانت قد أقلعت و قد كان المريخيون يخططون لمهاجمة الأرض . أرادتمستعمرة من المريخيين أن تنتقل إلى الأرض لأنه كان أكثر دفئا من كوكب المريخ ومكانا أفضل للعيش. كانت التكنولوجيا التي يمتلكها المريخيون أكثر تطورا بمراحل منتلك التي لدينا. و لكن المريخيين لم يكونوا مخلوقات ودودة؛ لقد كانوا يريدون تدميرالأرض و أن يأكلوا سكانها . بعدأيام قلائل، هبطت أحدى سفن المريخيين جنوب انكلترا و قد حضر الناس المندهشينلمشاهدة الأمر. حاول الناس التواصل مع المريخيين؛ جربوا لغة الكلام و الإشارة، ولكن المريخيين لم يفهموا ذلك. خرج أحد المريخيين من السفينة و أمسك بأحد الموجودينالذي كان عاملا في محل و الذي بدأ بالصراخ. استخدم المريخيون مسدسا من نوع خاصليطلقوا النار على الأشخاص الذي كانوا يشاهدون. كنت أنا الوحيد الذي استطاع الهربو قد ذهبت مباشرة إلى قريتي لأخبر الناس بما رأيت. لقد رأيت مخلوقات منالمريخ، هذا ما قلته، لقد هبطوا بالقرب من هنا و قد قتلوا الكثير منالناس و لكن لم يصدقني أحد و لذلك ذهبت إلى لندن و قمت بإخبار الصحف هناك وكل ما فعلوه أن ضحكوا على قصتي . ثمهبطت سفينة أخرى. هذه المرة حضر الجنود إلى المنطقة. كنت أستطع سماع أصوات القتالفقمت بأخذ زوجتي إلى مكان آمن ثم عدت لأرى ما الذي كان يحدث. رأيت آلة قتاليةمريخية ضخمة جدا. حاول الجنود تدمير تلك الآلة بأسلحتهم، و لكن أسلحتهم لم يكن لهاأي تأثير. ثم قامت الآلة بإطلاق النار على الجنود و بما كانت تمتلكه من تكنولوجيامتطورة قتلت معظم الجنود . فيلندن رأيت خمس آلات قتالية فاختبأت في مبنىً قديم. قامت الآلات بإطلاق غاز أسودبحيث أنها قتلت كل الجنود الذين كانوا يحاولون إيقاف تلك الآلات . كانالناس في لندن خائفين بسبب هذا الحدث المرعب فبدئوا بمغادرة المدينة. آلاف الناسغادروا المدينة على الدراجات، بالقطارات و على الأقدام. بعضهم غادر إلى بلدان أخرىعن طريق البحر. و لكني بقيت في لندن لأني كنت أريد أن أجد زوجتي. اختبأت في مبنىًآخر آملا أن أكون في أمان و لكن إحدى السفن الفضائية هبطت على سطح المبنى، فانهارحاصراً إياي في إحدى الغرف في الداخل. من هذه الغرفة استطعت أن أرى المريخيين عنقرب. رأيتهم يلتقطون الناس و يضعونهم في سلال. راقبت المخلوقات المريخية لفترةطويلة. لقد كانوا يتواصلون عن طريق التفكير. هبطت السفن المريخية أكثر فأكثر فيانكلترا، فمات أناس أكثر فأكثر. لقد كانوا يربحون حرب الكواكب . كنتقد تناولت كل الطعام في الغرفة و شربت كل الشراب و كان على أن أغادر الغرفة رغممعرفتي أن ذلك سيكون خطيراً. مشيت وحيداً عبر شوارع لندن و رأيت الدمار الذي حلّبالمدينة. ثم سمعت ضجة غريبة آتيةً من أحد السفن الفضائية التي سقطت على الأرض.داخل السفينة، رأيت مريخيا ميتاً. مشيت عبر الشوارع و رأيت أن كل المريخيين قدماتوا. لقد اخترع المريخيون سفناً فضائيةلمهاجمة الأرض و استخدموا التكنولوجيا لقتل سكانها و لكن أجسادهم لم تكن معدةًللأمراض الموجودة على كوكب الأرض. لم يكن لديهم علاج لتلك الأمراض فماتوا جميعاً . لقدرأيت الدمار الذي حلّ في لندن، و لكني رأيت أيضا المريخيين و هم يموتون، هذاما أخبرت به الناس الذين قابلتهم. انتشرت أخبار نهاية المريخيين حول لندن . غادرتلندن و عدت إلى منزلي في الريف. لقد كان فارغا. ثم سمعت ضجةً في الحديقة فنظرت منالنافذة و رأيت زوجتي. لقد كانت على قيد الحياة و كانت في أمان، فجعلني ذلك أشعربشعور رائع و لكن مخاوفي لم تختفي كلها . إنهناك الكثير من الدروس التي يجب أن نتعلمها من هجوم المريخيين على كوكب الأرض.احتفظنا بأحد أجساد المريخيين و وضعناه فيمتحف التاريخ الطبيعي. الآن على البشر أن يحاولوا الذهاب إلى الفضاء. من المهم جداأن يذهب البشر إلى الأماكن التي قام المريخيون بالذهاب إليها حيث أنه إن لم نمتلكالتكنولوجيا التي يمتلكها المريخيون فإنهم قد يهاجموننا مرة أخرى في المستقبل .
