وَإِذَا لَقُواْ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ قَالُواْ آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلاَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىَ بَعْضٍ قَالُواْ أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ اللّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَآجُّوكُم بِهِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ (76 যখন তারা মুসলমানদের সাথে মিলিত হয়, তখন বলেঃ আমরা মুসলমান হয়েছি। আর যখন পরস্পরের সাথে নিভৃতে অবস্থান করে, তখন বলে, পালনকর্তা তোমাদের জন্যে যা প্রকাশ করেছেন, তা কি তাদের কাছে বলে দিচ্ছ? তাহলে যে তারা এ নিয়ে পালকর্তার সামনে তোমাদেরকে মিথ্যা প্রতিপন্ন করবে। তোমরা কি তা উপলব্ধি কর না? And when they (Jews) meet those who believe (Muslims), they say, ”We believe”, but when they meet one another in private, they say, ”Shall you (Jews) tell them (Muslims) what Allâh has revealed to you [Jews, about the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him , that which are written in the Taurât (Torah)] , that they (Muslims) may argue with you (Jews) about it before your Lord?” Have you (Jews) then no understanding? أَوَلاَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ (77 তারা কি এতটুকুও জানে না যে, আল্লাহ সেসব বিষয়ও পরিজ্ঞাত যা তারা গোপন করে এবং যা প্রকাশ করে? Know they (Jews) not that Allâh knows what they conceal and what they reveal? وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّيُّونَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ الْكِتَابَ إِلاَّ أَمَانِيَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ يَظُنُّونَ (78 তোমাদের কিছু লোক নিরক্ষর। তারা মিথ্যা আকাঙ্খা ছাড়া আল্লাহর গ্রন্থের কিছুই জানে না। তাদের কাছে কল্পনা ছাড়া কিছুই নেই। And there are among them (Jews) unlettered people, who know not the Book, but they trust upon false desires and they but guess. فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَـذَا مِنْ عِندِ اللّهِ لِيَشْتَرُواْ بِهِ ثَمَناً قَلِيلاً فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُمْ مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ (79 অতএব তাদের জন্যে আফসোস! যারা নিজ হাতে গ্রন্থ লেখে এবং বলে, এটা আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে অবতীর্ণ-যাতে এর বিনিময়ে সামান্য অর্থ গ্রহণ করতে পারে। অতএব তাদের প্রতি আক্ষেপ, তাদের হাতের লেখার জন্য এবং তাদের প্রতি আক্ষেপ, তাদের উপার্জনের জন্যে। Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say, ”This is from Allâh,” to purchase with it a little price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for that they earn thereby. وَقَالُواْ لَن تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ إِلاَّ أَيَّاماً مَّعْدُودَةً قُلْ أَتَّخَذْتُمْ عِندَ اللّهِ عَهْدًا فَلَن يُخْلِفَ اللّهُ عَهْدَهُ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ (80 তারা বলেঃ আগুন আমাদিগকে কখনও স্পর্শ করবে না; কিন্তু গণাগনতি কয়েকদিন। বলে দিনঃ তোমরা কি আল্লাহর কাছ থেকে কোন অঙ্গীকার পেয়েছ যে, আল্লাহ কখনও তার খেলাফ করবেন না-না তোমরা যা জান না, তা আল্লাহর সাথে জুড়ে দিচ্ছ। And they (Jews) say, ”The Fire (i.e. Hell-fire on the Day of Resurrection) shall not touch us but for a few numbered days.” Say (O Muhammad Peace be upon him to them): ”Have you taken a covenant from Allâh, so that Allâh will not break His Covenant? Or is it that you say of Allâh what you know not?” بَلَى مَن كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةً وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيـئَتُهُ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (81 হাঁ, যে ব্যক্তি পাপ অর্জন করেছে এবং সে পাপ তাকে পরিবেষ্টিত করে নিয়েছে, তারাই দোযখের অধিবাসী। তারা সেখানেই চিরকাল থাকবে। Yes! Whosoever earns evil and his sin has surrounded him, they are dwellers of the Fire (i.e. Hell); they will dwell therein forever. وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَـئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (82 পক্ষান্তরে যারা ঈমান এনেছে এবং সৎকাজ করেছে, তারাই জান্নাতের অধিবাসী। তারা সেখানেই চিরকাল থাকবে। And those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh ÊÚÇáì - Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they will dwell therein forever. وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لاَ تَعْبُدُونَ إِلاَّ اللّهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَاناً وَذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَقُولُواْ لِلنَّاسِ حُسْناً وَأَقِيمُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتُواْ الزَّكَاةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً مِّنكُمْ وَأَنتُم مِّعْرِضُونَ (83 যখন আমি বনী-ইসরাঈলের কাছ থেকে অঙ্গীকার নিলাম যে, তোমরা আল্লাহ ছাড়া কারও উপাসনা করবে না, পিতা-মাতা, আত্নীয়-স্বজন, এতীম ও দীন-দরিদ্রদের সাথে সদ্ব্যবহার করবে, মানুষকে সৎ কথাবার্তা বলবে, নামায প্রতিষ্ঠা করবে এবং যাকাত দেবে, তখন সামান্য কয়েকজন ছাড়া তোমরা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিলে, তোমরাই অগ্রাহ্যকারী। And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allâh (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and Al-Masâkîn (the poor), [Tafsir At-Tabarî, Vol. 10, Page 158 (Verse 9:60)] and speak good to people [i.e. enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about Muhammad Peace be upon him ], and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî, Vol. 2, Page 392). وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَكُمْ لاَ تَسْفِكُونَ دِمَاءكُمْ وَلاَ تُخْرِجُونَ أَنفُسَكُم مِّن دِيَارِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ (84 যখন আমি তোমাদের কাছ থেকে অঙ্গীকার নিলাম যে, তোমরা পরস্পর খুনাখুনি করবে না এবং নিজেদেরকে দেশ থেকে বহিস্কার করবে না, তখন তোমরা তা স্বীকার করেছিলে এবং তোমরা তার সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছিলে। And (remember) when We took your covenant (saying): Shed not the blood of your people, nor turn out your own people from their dwellings. Then, (this) you ratified and (to this) you bear witness. ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ هَـؤُلاء تَقْتُلُونَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتُخْرِجُونَ فَرِيقاً مِّنكُم مِّن دِيَارِهِمْ تَظَاهَرُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِالإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَإِن يَأتُوكُمْ أُسَارَى تُفَادُوهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِخْرَاجُهُمْ أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِبَعْضِ الْكِتَابِ وَتَكْفُرُونَ بِبَعْضٍ فَمَا جَزَاء مَن يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مِنكُمْ إِلاَّ خِزْيٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَى أَشَدِّ الْعَذَابِ وَمَا اللّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ (85 অতঃপর তোমরাই পরস্পর খুনাখুনি করছ এবং তোমাদেরই একদলকে তাদের দেশ থেকে বহিস্কার করছ। তাদের বিরুদ্ধে পাপ ও অন্যায়ের মাধ্যমে আক্রমণ করছ। আর যদি তারাই কারও বন্দী হয়ে তোমাদের কাছে আসে, তবে বিনিময় নিয়ে তাদের মুক্ত করছ। অথচ তাদের বহিস্কার করাও তোমাদের জন্য অবৈধ। তবে কি তোমরা গ্রন্থের কিয়দংশ বিশ্বাস কর এবং কিয়দংশ অবিশ্বাস কর? যারা এরূপ করে পার্থিব জীবনে দূগর্তি ছাড়া তাদের আর কোনই পথ নেই। কিয়ামতের দিন তাদের কঠোরতম শাস্তির দিকে পৌঁছে দেয়া হবে। আল্লাহ তোমাদের কাজ-কর্ম সম্পর্কে বে-খবর নন। After this, it is you who kill one another and drive out a party of you from their homes, assist (their enemies) against them, in sin and transgression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their expulsion was forbidden to you. Then do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allâh is not unaware of what you do. أُولَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُاْ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا بِالآَخِرَةِ فَلاَ يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلاَ هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ (86 এরাই পরকালের বিনিময়ে পার্থিব জীবন ক্রয় করেছে। অতএব এদের শাস্তি লঘু হবে না এবং এরা সাহায্যও পাবে না। Those are they who have bought the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter. Their torment shall not be lightened nor shall they be helped. وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ بِالرُّسُلِ وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَيَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَاءكُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لاَ تَهْوَى أَنفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقاً كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقاً تَقْتُلُونَ (87 অবশ্যই আমি মূসাকে কিতাব দিয়েছি। এবং তার পরে পর্যায়ক্রমে রসূল পাঠিয়েছি। আমি মরিয়ম তনয় ঈসাকে সুস্পষ্ট মোজেযা দান করেছি এবং পবিত্র রূহের মাধ্যমে তাকে শক্তিদান করেছি। অতঃপর যখনই কোন রসূল এমন নির্দেশ নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে এসেছে, যা তোমাদের মনে ভাল লাগেনি, তখনই তোমরা অহংকার করেছ। শেষ পর্যন্ত তোমরা একদলকে মিথ্যাবাদী বলেছ এবং একদলকে হত্যা করেছ। And indeed, We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave ’Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Rûh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel) ]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some, you disbelieved and some, you killed. وَقَالُواْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌ بَل لَّعَنَهُمُ اللَّه بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَقَلِيلاً مَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ (88 তারা বলে, আমাদের হৃদয় অর্ধাবৃত। এবং তাদের কুফরের কারণে আল্লাহ অভিসম্পাত করেছেন। ফলে তারা অল্পই ঈমান আনে। And they say, ”Our hearts are wrapped (i.e. do not hear or understand Allâh’s Word).” Nay, Allâh has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is that which they believe. وَلَمَّا جَاءهُمْ كِتَابٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اللّهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ وَكَانُواْ مِن قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَمَّا جَاءهُم مَّا عَرَفُواْ كَفَرُواْ بِهِ فَلَعْنَةُ اللَّه عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ (89 যখন তাদের কাছে আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে কিতাব এসে পৌঁছাল, যা সে বিষয়ের সত্যায়ন করে, যা তাদের কাছে রয়েছে এবং তারা পূর্বে করত। অবশেষে যখন তাদের কাছে পৌঁছল যাকে তারা চিনে রেখেছিল, তখন তারা তা অস্বীকার করে বসল। অতএব, অস্বীকারকারীদের উপর আল্লাহর অভিসম্পাত। And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Qur’ân) from Allâh confirming what is with them [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], although aforetime they had invoked Allâh (for coming of Muhammad Peace be upon him ) in order to gain victory over those who disbelieved, then when there came to them that which they had recognised, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allâh be on the disbelievers. بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْاْ بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْ أَن يَكْفُرُواْ بِمَا أنَزَلَ اللّهُ بَغْياً أَن يُنَزِّلُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ عَلَى مَن يَشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِهِ فَبَآؤُواْ بِغَضَبٍ عَلَى غَضَبٍ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ (90 যার বিনিময়ে তারা নিজেদের বিক্রি করেছে, তা খুবই মন্দ; যেহেতু তারা আল্লাহ যা নযিল করেছেন, তা অস্বীকার করেছে এই হঠকারিতার দরুন যে, আল্লাহ স্বীয় বান্দাদের মধ্যে যার প্রতি ইচ্ছা অনুগ্রহ নাযিল করেন। অতএব, তারা ক্রোধের উপর ক্রোধ অর্জন করেছে। আর কাফেরদের জন্য রয়েছে অপমানজনক শাস্তি। How bad is that for which they have sold their ownselves, that they should disbelieve in that which Allâh has revealed (the Qur’ân), grudging that Allâh should reveal of His Grace unto whom He will of His slaves. So they have drawn on themselves wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers, there is disgracing torment.
