ये दौ ख़बरें नागपुर के बच्चे बच्चे को याद होगी जहां बचपन से जलवा बिखेर रहे सचिन तेंदुलकर,विनोद काम्बली,अरमान जाफर,उनमुक्तचंद,हिम्मत सिंह अपने जलवे को लम्बे समय तक कायम रखे रहे वहीं हमारे ये दौ विश्व-रिकोर्ड धारी आज जिस स्थिति में हैं सभी जानते है, एक समय हिन्दुस्तान से लेकर ऑस्ट्रेलिया तक छाये हुए(कुछ दिनों के लिए) आज विदर्भ क्रिकेट की रुसवाई का सबब बन गए हैं, उस समय तो ऐसा लगने लगा था की सचिन तेदुलकर और ब्रेडमेन भी नागपुर से निकलने वाले बल्लेबाजों के सामने बौने हो जायेंगे पर ऐसा कुछ नहीं हुआ उलटा किसी भी क्रिकेट सेंटर पर नागपुर के क्रिकेट स्टेंडरड की बात करो तो लोग इस तरह हँसते हैं जैसे क्रिकेट की बात करने वाला कालाहारी रेगिस्तान से आया हुआ कोई बेहद्द अनपढ़,गवार या बेवकूफ है. आखिर ऎसी क्या वजह है की विदर्भ से दुनिया को हिला देने वाले खिलाड़ी नहीं निकल पा रहे हैं क्योंकि "उमेश यादव" जैसी देवीय प्रतिभा तो विदर्भ क्रिकेट की देंन कही नहीं जा सकती उसे तो सिर्फ ईश्वरीय चमत्कार ही कहना ठीक होगा, क्योंकि विदर्भ के क्रिकेट के कर्ताधर्ताओं का रवैया तो वडोदरा गयी टीम की जग हंसाई से समझा जा सकता है. अब ऊपर वाला जाने ये किस तरह सुधरेंगे. क्योंकि खिलाड़ी के खराब परफोर्मेंस पर तो उसको दूध में से मक्खी की तरह निकाला जा सकता है लेकिन खराब और पूरे मुल्क के सामने कपडे उतरवा कर आबरू लुटवाने वाले सिलेक्टरों का क्या इलाज हो सकता है यह तो विदर्भ क्रिकेट को चलाने वालों को ही सोचना होगा, वह टीम टीम केवल पांच या छः असली खिलाड़ियों के भरोसे रही जिसमे कुशल काकड़, अथर्व मनोहर, और राहुल नायर ने विदर्भ की इज्जत बचाने की बहुत कोशिश की लेकिन तफरी करने गए बाक़ी खिलाड़ियों के द्वार हथियार डालने की वजह से इनकी कोशिशे भी नाकाफी साबित हुयी.
