Stunned by the footage being played on news channels, Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police suspended the constable and ordered an inquiry. On Monday, an inebriated Shailendra Shukla barged into a cultural function brandishing his loaded revolver. He then took the stage and forced the dancer to perform continuously for over an hour. The constable also showered currency notes on the stage. It is alleged that whenever the exhausted dancer tried to end her performance, he threatened her. He also warned those who tried to intervene to keep off.
