About our Organization Centre for Rural Development–SEE is organization from rural part of Macedonia. CRD-SEE aims on utilizing an idea in order to develop good projects that meet requirements of the organization. The organization has 34 members and 13 volunteers with different backgrounds and who are working on different local projects concerning youth, environment, agriculture, culture etc. Although there is no maximum age limit to participate in CRD–SEE activities. The majority of the activities of CRD–SEE refer to few main areas: - Promotion of non-formal education through ICL and international YE - Strengthening civil society, citizenship and democracy in rural areas - Promotion of rural tourism and agriculture - Cross border cooperation - Multi ethnic, multilingual, multicultural and multi-religious. We are working with youngsters with different backgrounds and we are aiming on improving cooperation between peoples from rural and urban environments and enhancing education in rural environments. Training Course TC Initiate Explore Dream Discover 10 November – 18 November 2013 Struga, Macedonia About the project The new Youth Opportunities Initiative, adopted by the European Commission, calls on Member States to work on preventing early school leaving, helping youngsters develop skills relevant to the labor market, ensuring work experience and on-the-job training and helping young people find a first good job. TC Initiate Explore Dream Discover is a response to this initiative. Having in consideration high rates of youth unemployment in most of European countries, we have prepared a 8-days training that aims to develop sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, encourage talent development, give transferable skills and increase social connectedness of people in age from 18 to 25, not enrolled in formal education institutions and job market. Embodied learning approach and mix of simulations, outdoor and art activities, drama exercises, reflection and self-exploration exercises, brainstorming and problem solving techniques will be used to help develop participants proactive approach, problem solving skills, flexibility, commitment, willingness to learn, self-awareness and self-reliance, stress management, time management, self-promotion, networking, teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills. Travel Details Each partner organization should send us list of participants with the names of the participants and time and date if they arrival in Macedonia. After that together we will prepare program and each participant will be taken from the airport or bus station in Struga town from the organization and will be bring to the place of venue. Participants are required to arrive in Macedonia on 10th of November till 22:00h “Alexander the Great” international airport in Skopje (skp.airports.mk) On 18th of November all the participants will be taken to the airport or bus station by the organizers. Note!! Please plan your trip carefully. In case your arrival/departure dates are longer than the Youth Exchange itself, the organizers will not be able to reimburse your travel costs. 4 Preparation for the Training Course What should each organization prepare before coming on the project? International Night According to the program with activities, each organization should bring national flag, food, drinks and music, materials for the organization from previous projects or country and also some video presentation if you cannot find it on YouTube. Communication In the hotel will be wireless internet so during the stay in the hotel participant will have access on internet 24/7. SIM CARDS/MOBILE PHONES In case you need a Mobile/Sim card with Macedonian number, you can find it in markets. There are 3 main operators in Macedonia: VIP, ONE and T-HOME. 5 Accommodation Red Cross Hotel Solferino The Hotel is located in Struga on the shore of Ohrid Lake, in ideal natural surroundings of rear trees. Capacity Accommodation: -18 rooms with three beds -12 double rooms -Three apartments -A specific characteristic is that each room has a view of the lake. -Restaurant with modern equipment, air-conditioned -Hotel is fully equipped to meet your requirements by the highest standards for sport activities, business meetings, seminars, conferences, congresses etc. 6 Reimbursement The organizers will reimburse 70% of your travel costs from your home city to the pick-up point in Macedonia and way back. Reimbursement of travel costs will only be done upon full attendance in the TC activity and presentation of the original tickets with boarding passes and receipt/invoices. Any proposals of making the staying shorter or longer should be consulted with organizers. Reimbursement will be done in EURO, regardless of the currency indicated on your ticket and receipt/invoice. !!! Places that will be visited during the Training Course Ohrid is a city on the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid in the Republic of Macedonia. It has about 52,000 inhabitants, making it the seventh largest city in the country. The city is the seat of Ohrid Municipality. Ohrid is notable for having once had 365 churches, one for each day of the year and has been referred to as a Jerusalem. The city is rich in picturesque houses and monuments, and tourism is predominant. It is located southwest of Skopje, west of Resen and Bitola, close to the border with Albania. In 1979 and in 1980, Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as a Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. In fact, Ohrid is one of only 28 sites that are part of UNESCOs World Heritage that are both Cultural and Natural sites. The main event of the cultural life in Struga is the worlds largest poetry gathering, Struga Poetry Evenings, whose laureates have included several Nobel Prize for Literature winners such as Joseph Brodsky, Eugenio Montale, Pablo Neruda, Seamus Heaney, Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca and many others since 1966. There are several cultural monuments in Struga and in its vicinity such as the Monastery of Kališta, a few kilometers away from the town center, lying on the shore of Lake Ohrid. It is believed that it dates from the 16th century, with frescoes from the 14th and the 15th centuries. Another rock church is present in the neighbouring village of Radožda with frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries.
