New Support System of Children and Child Care New support system of children and child care is going to start from April, 2015 to promote education, child care and supports of child care. 1. Available education and child care institutions 1) Education/ daycare center institutions -1. Kindergarten -2. Daycare center -3. Kodomo-en ( Integrated institution of kindergarten and daycare center) 2) Chiikigata- hoiku (Regional child care): Classes available only for a few children aged between 0 and 2 years old - Family- like child care - Small- scale childcare - Employer-provided child care - Home- visit child care 2. You need to be certified to enroll your child into institutions. 1) Classification of certification 1 -1. Eligible people: Preschool child 3 years old and over who wishes to enroll into kindergarten. -2. Available institutions: Kindergarten, Kodomo-en 2) Classification of certification 2 ( Refer to (1)) -1. Eligible people: Preschool child 3 years old and over who meets one of the conditions below( Refer to (2)), and who would like receive childcare at daycare center. -2. Available institutions: Daycare center, kodomo-en 3) Classification of certification 3 ( Refer to (1)) -1. Eligible people: Preschool child 2 years old and under who meets one of the conditions below( Refer to (2)), and who would like to receive childcare at daycare center. (1) Depending on the situation of parent(s), 2 types of length of child-rearing time are assigned for those who are certificated as classification 2 or 3; Standard length ( max. 11h.) or short length ( max. 8h.). In case your child(ren) need to be in care for longer hours than the assigned length of time, the institutions will cover it as “extended care”. (2) Conditions a. Parents or guardians working during the day. b. Mothers who are about to give birth, or have just recently given birth. c. Parents or guardians who are ill or with disabilities. d. Parents or guardians who have long-term nursing care obligations. e. Parents or guardians who are working in disaster recovery. f. Parents or guardians who are job- hunting. g. Parents or guardians who are studying at any school or in job training. h. Parents who are in childcare leave period i. Parents or guardians who are abusive. j. Any other valid reason for not being able to take care of your child at home. 3. Steps for enrollment Those who are classified as Classification 1: -1. Application for kindergarten -2. Receipt of acceptance from kindergarten -3. Submitting form for certification -4. Issuance of subsidy approval certificate -5. Entering kindergarten Those who are classified as Classification 2 and 3 -1. Application for entering daycare center/ kodomo-en and certification to Social Welfare Section -2. Issuance of subsidy approval certificate. -3. Availability fixing -4. Notice of determination and availability, suspension or waiting -5. Comments and Suggestions on Village Policy Welcome The Tokai-mura Village Office welcomes comments about village policy and suggestions to improve life in the town. We do our best to solve problems beyond the reach of current policy. Please send comments by letter using the envelope enclosed in Koho Tokai 25 November, 2014. Postage is free until Tuesday 24 November, 2015. Give your name, address, occupation, age and phone number which is available in daytime. All comments will receive a written response. Anonymous submissions will not receive a response. You may be contacted by phone to confirm the content of your comment. Selfish, profit-making or slanderous comments will not be accepted. Comments on roads, roadside trees, safety mirrors or streetlights should be sent to the head of each neighborhood community association. Comments will also be accepted by e-mail through the Tokai-mura website. Comments about the national, prefectural or Tokai-mura town governments will be accepted at administrative counseling given by Tokai-mura Council of Social Welfare. A Room for Parents and Children to Support their Childcare Hyakutsuka Daycare Center opens a room for guardian and children to support their childcare, through playing and listening to storytelling. Date: Thursday 4 and Friday 12 December Time: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Place: Hyakutsuka Daycare Center Eligible people: Preschool age children accompanied by a guardian who is a resident of Tokai-mura. Family Concert Popular performer, Taniken ( Kenichiro Tanimoto) as Kessaku-kun from children’s program ‘ HOOK BOOK ROW’ of NHK will perform in Tokai-mura. Date: Sat. 28 Feb. Time: 1:00p.m. (doors open at 0:30p.m.) Place: Tokai Culture Center Cost: Preschool children aged 3 years up to sixth grade elementary students; 500 yen per person Junior high school students and over; 2,000 yen per person All seats designated. Children under 3 years old do not pay any entrance fee if she/ he sits on her/his parent’s lap, but if the child needs a seat, 500 yen will be charged. Application: Tickets will be on sale from 9:00 a.m. on Saturday 29 November at Tokai Culture Center and other ticket agencies.
