As far as I know, he composed all the musics in his movies by whistling because he didnt know any musical notes. He was Jewish and had liberal thought. That is why he was persecuted and accused of communism under the madness of McCarthyism in the US. I dont forget the day that I watched Modern Times when I was a college student. After then, I became a big fan of his movies such as Lime Light, Kid, City Light, and so on. When I was in Hong Kong, cable movie channel had a special week for Chaplin. I was anxious to watch the movies again but my wife said if you have time, sleep for taking a rest or teach Jay for her writing... I had no choice but to sleep... I was so sad then...
