요나의 의미는 요게 나다!입니다!(욘 4:2) 니느웨는 요나의 고국 이스라엘을 늘 괴롭히는 나라의 수도였습니다. 그러니 하나님께서 이 원수의 나라에 복음을 전하라고 하실 때, 피하여 도망할 수 밖에 없었겠지요. 그러나 어찌되었든 복음을 전하자, 나라 전체가 회개하는 일이 일어나고 맙니다. 이것은 요나가 정말 원하지 않았던 일입니다. 그러니 요나가 화가날 수 밖에요. 요나의 반응을 보면서 우리는 요게 나다!라고 고백할 수 밖에 없습니다. 우리는 요나처럼, 이에는 이로, 눈에는 눈으로 반응하며 살아갑니다. 그러나 하나님은 모두에게 자비롭습니다. 하나님은 요나의 고백처럼, 모든 사람을 사랑하시며, 공평하게 대하십니다. 그리고 하나님은 모두에게 늘 새로운 출발을 위한 기회를 주십니다. 이것이 요나의 이야기가 말하는 우리와는 달라도 너무 다른 하나님의 마음입니다. 샬롬!! The meaning of Jonah is its right I am! (Jonah 4:2) Nineveh is the capital of the nation that had tormented Israel, Jonahs home country. So when God ordered Jonah to preach the Gospel to them, he was forced to flee from Gods order. But anyway as we know, when Jonah preached God warning to Nineveh, then there were happened an amazing things that whole people in Nineveh had repented. This is last thing that Jonah might expected. So Jonah was very angry. As we are reading Jonah responses, we are forced to confess, this Jonah is right I am. We are living to make our lives an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, as like Jonah. But God is merciful to all people. He loves all people and is fair to all of us, as like Jonahs confession in Jonah 4:2. And God gives all of us an opportunity to resume for our different lives for. This is Gods character to be completely different with us, shown by Jonah narrative. Shalom!!
