-- But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. -- Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of? Has any other people heard the voice of God[a] speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived? Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt* before your very eyes? You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other. From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire. Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt* by his Presence and his great strength, to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today. Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time. (Deuteronomy 4:29, 32-40) a. Or of a god -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Egypt . What is the symbolic meaning of Egypt? Answer: Bondage. Slavery. Captivity. As the entire scenario of the first Passover plays out [as God orchestrated it under Moses and Aaron to picture His plan of salvation]... Egypt [the land of Pharaoh, or the ways of (the world) Satan] comes across as the symbol for sin... and mankinds bondage to it. Pharaoh pictures Satan... his armies are his demons, under whom the Israelites slaved [and mankind still slaves, endlessly, 24/7] without hope of rescue. The blood of the slain lamb caused death to pass over those protected under the shed blood of the lamb, which resulted in their ultimate release from Egypt [sins bondage]. They were freed, liberated -- their past blotted out, with a new life and future ahead. The column of the cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, that stood between the liberated Israelites and Pharaohs armies, the cloud which guided them and protected them, was Christ [who stands between those whose Faith is in Him... and Satan and his demons who try to pull Gods elect back into sin [Egypt]... back into slavery to it. At the end of their escape from Egypt [lifes sins... struggling against it all the way] when things looked most hopeless [when we face the first death, thats appointed to us - Heb.9:27]... with their backs to the Red Sea, and Pharaoh [Satan] closing in on them -- Gods elect were saved. ...Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the Salvation of the Lord, which He will shew to you to day... The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. (Ex.14:13-14) Later, when God [Jesus Christ, the God of the Old Testament - John 1:3] gave them the Ten Commandments... He said: ...I AM the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt [or, another way of saying it; I AM the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of SIN], out of the house of bondage. (Ex.20:2) Egypt symbolizes sin [the transgression of the law - I John 3:4; every wicked way thats contrary to Gods laws]... and mans bondage to it. God bless.
