:-) Kaylyn had good days Thursday and Friday of last week and today so Stephen took her to see the lego movie. Had the meeting to discussed her IEP eligibility. She does not qualify 1 because her cognitive abilities are way up there and 2 she is improving. it seems she just needs the right teacher. that is frustrating because I dont have much control over what teachers she gets each year. they did tell me that i can go in to the school in the summer before they start assigning classes and give them the whole big beautiful picture of who Kaylyn is. Plus everything from all of these meeting is going into her file. plus we will have conferences to do write ups of what is working for her that the teacher is doing so it can go in her file too. i was told that if at any time i want to pursue a 504 plan , possibly because a teacher she gets doesnt want to do any of the things that work for her, then i can and that will then force the teacher to comply... I am highly debating going ahead and doing that just so we dont have to deal with that issue later. Like i told the assistant principal, teachers are night and day. Just because this teacher is awesome with Kaylyn doesnt mean her next will be. some believe in an ADHD diagnosis and some dont. One a highly positive note, it was widely agreed upon that she is very intelligent and friendly. She is not mean or aggressive. Because of this they also did not want to put her in the class that deal with behavior/mood disorders. its for kids who act out and lash out and she is far from that.. she is just over bubbly, talkative, easily excitable, and wants lots and lots of attention. they did make me feel better by telling me that some kids just cant get enough attention no matter how much you give them. It looks like things are looking up i just really wish we could get a handle on her junk food sneaking and trash hording. i understand being unorganized.. lol she get that from me.
