1:00PM NEWS WITH EMMAH ATAI POWERED BY ORANGE: Government has rejected demands by the Opposition leaders who are calling for the immediate suspension of the national ID registration exercise over claims that the exercise has so many loopholes and is being executed without a supporting law. The Office of the Auditor General requires additional funding of sh19.19b to clear audit backlog for lower Local Governments and schools. The Auditor General, John Muwanga , explains that they accumulated over time to 4, 942 due to inadequate funding. The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) has warned South Sudan rebels loyal to Riek Machar against attacking the strategic town of Bor. BUSINESS: Dealers in raw milk have called off their strike after days of protesting the government plan to ban the sale of raw milk directly to consumers. According to the spokesperson of Uganda National Dairy Traders Association (UNDATA), Edward Butera, the decision to call off the strike was reached in a meeting with the industry regulator. ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE: A passenger has been detained in Indonesia after an apparent attempt to hijack a plane that landed at Bali airport, reports say. The Virgin Boeing 737 plane had flown from Brisbane in Australia.
