1/28/14 Randy Waltz update. Wow 18 days into this...and I so remember the 24 hour mark! I dont even know the day of the week anymore! Praise God for healing Randy and giving me the strength to get this far. In Randys own words he has cheated death. Scary but true! I just know God is not done with my wonderful husband on this earth. Two sessions of PT today, even though he is still very weak, I truly saw improvement from this a.m. to p.m. He has managed with his humor to keep the staff laughing throughout his treatments. He stayed awake longer periods today, fed himself and is slowly but surely improving. The Roto-prone bed leaves most patients with lots of skin issues...helps the lungs heal but can cause the skin to really break down. Randy in general does not have a lot of the usual skin issues! He did however get very large blisters on his heals. They have been clear until today, which this morning they looked like huge blood blisters. Now we have added another doctor to the mix, the wound care department had to come open these blisters and clean them up and are making sure there is no tissue damage. That has yet to be fully determined and hopefully we will find out more tomorrow. Randy is already anticipating being worn out tomorrow as he will have another session of dialysis. Truly praying that his kidneys kick in soon and this will not be a long process, but it could take quite some time. Depending on insurance approval, his feet healing and the level of physical therapy he is capable of, our next part of this journey will be at a rehab center for a minimum of 2 weeks. Thank you all for your continued prayers as they ARE working! Thank you to Heather Birchfield Coburn and the paramedic class for taking care of my car today. Started tonight 1st time!!! I am very thankful!
