1 Peter 4:1-2 So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires. Jesus lived a sinless life, and suffered greatly in making that choice. We shouldn’t expect that it is easy to live being “finished with sin”. (NET) Quite the opposite, we suffer in the body as Christ suffered so that we may keep our focus upon the life gifted to us in Christ Jesus. When considering this call to stand our ground and remain in Christ, I think about how Jesus refused to call upon angels when dared to by Satan. At the height of temptation, Jesus stood firm with His Father’s will. Do not forget when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, another moment when the spiritual battle became especially fierce, and He courageously pours out His heart to His Father in Heaven, ready to take up His cross in obedience and power.
