1 Timothy 6:7-10 “for we brought nothing into the world, and we - TopicsExpress

1 Timothy 6:7-10 “for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” What is it that you want? The world tells us that the good life can be bought at a store. If its shiny or new it must be good. But is this the kind of things we should really be focusing on? There is an old saying that he who dies with the most toys wins, but I prefer the version that says he who dies with the most toys, still dies. We will leave this world with exactly what we brought into it, no more. There are so many people that spend their lives chasing material things, but when all is said and done they will have nothing. Here we see that we should be content if we have food and clothing, but how many people could actually be satisfied with that? How many of us could give up all the things we want for the things we truly need? As we approach the holiday season, materialism and greed seem to become even more prevalent. Some teach their children that it is better to receive than to give, but as Christians we must not allow such attitudes to infect us. Let us all take some time today to be thankful for the things that truly matter and to reflect upon the gifts that our Lord has given us. ~Kevin Numbers 6:24-26 Romans 8:38-39
