1 week post 24hr Enduro and I am still thinking what an event it was. Not just a physical battle but towards then end a mental one. Some parts of the race were nearly soul breaking making many doubts creep in. Isolation and fatigue where also a major struggle at some stages and I nearly broke while on course twice, but managed to pull myself together to finish around 77kms. While others stopped in the pit area, took a seat, got some warmth, i made a point not to re enter my tent after the 3rd lap and remain standing marching on the spot while refueling and that played a major part of me being able to return to the course while others didnt in the early hours of the cold morning. One of the things that will really stay with me is going on the course course as participants but sharing the hurt with so many which forged some great friendships by the end. I learnt so much just not about how my body functions under fatigue but also my mind. One week on my body is doing things I have never felt or experienced so with the the Spartan Race Ultra Beast coming up my aim now is just to do nothing until then and and recover. If my body does not still feel right, I will have make the decision to tone down to the beast. Either way after the race I will be taking some time off to fully recover get my body where it needs to be. I am excited to see where next year will take me now as I am in a completely different mindset, motivated and hungry for more.
