1 year ago I was sitting on my couch in an apartment I couldnt afford, smoking weed I bought with money that wasnt mine, when I first heard the teachings of Dave Ramsey. Since then Ive paid off $4k in back rent, a bunch of old unpaid bills, 3 city arrest warrants for back taxes, 1 Brentwood arrest warrant for no car registration, 2 years of personal property taxes (with fees, ugggh) and - as of today - 7 YEARS of back state taxes. I have a long way to go to be debt free, but I am getting there. More importantly, I learned to take responsibility for my actions (not a bad thing for a 35 year old :) If you have debt - or just want to get control of your life - I highly recommend listening to this dude!!
