10/23/13 The Spiritual and Worldy Con Master Satan is an opportunist, a con man. A con artist is completely dependent on the greed of his target. Unless the target gets into greed, he will see the obvious trap that is being laid for him. Everyone else sees it, but his greed closes his eyes. He cannot see beyond his sin. Similarly, in our altered states we are blinded to the obvious. We are blinded to a weak, defeated enemy that we could easily conquer. Temptation starts from desire. James 1:14 says, “Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” Temptation does not start with the devil. Temptation starts with me. It starts with my desires. Remember that no desire is evil within itself. So where does the desire become evil? The desire becomes evil when we turn to any source other than God to fulfill the desire. That is when we choose sin as an option to fulfill our desire. We don’t need to do that; every desire can be fulfilled in a godly, biblical manner.
