10/26 is largely a day of firsts. Alas the first is a second, as 10/26/89 was the second show at the Wetlands, but of the 6 other shows played on that date, 4 of them were the first time Phish played in that city. 1990 was their Austin debut. This show is particularly hard to picture that late in their career as they played in a club with 3 other bands on the lineup. Their set was third which is a not bad slot. 1991 was not only their first Santa Fe appearance, but it was their first time playing the Land of Enchantment. 10/26/94 was the first and only time Phish played Boone, NC. And - sandwiched between 96 in Charlotte and 13 at the Centrum - 2010 had their only Manchester, NH concert. Today might make a perfect day to hit up a new town in CA to keep the tradition going. Sure its an off day but maybe [1] the rest of the band will show with Phil today to have the first San Rafael show. [1] And by maybe I mean not even an incredibly slight chance. Note: these firsts are all firsts by shows that count for stats purposes and first in the town/state proper as I used the pattern matcher to find them.
