The synth-rock hit is now a classic of American pop culture and offers one of the most iconic sounds of the era: You hear that keyboard and it instantly screams 1980s. But at the time it was a radical and even controversial departure for the Guitar God heavy-hitting Van Halen. They took a chance with their music and their fan base, but it proved a monster success. The 1984 album lit up the radio and rocked high school parties for much of the rest of the decade with a string of hits. But Jump remains Van Halens only No. 1 hit single.
