11am – Dear Scott Dear Scott: We heard about this elementary school in Chicago that has banned homework for first and second graders. The school is now promoting PDF — play, downtime and family time. I could not agree more. My son comes home with a packet every week. First he has a seven-hour school day and then has homework. He really, really hates it. And weekends are all about pushing him to finish his sight words, which is making him really negative about school. My husband thinks this is preparing him for school in general and life.
