12 August every year sees the commemoration of International Youth Day. International Youth Day 2013 will be celebrated under the theme:‘Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward.’ Youth with disabilities are amongst the most marginalized and poorest of all the world’s youth. UNESCO estimates that 98% of children with disabilities in developing countries do not attend school and 99% of girls with disabilities are illiterate. Youth with disabilities face dual disadvantages as individuals with disabilities are more likely to live in poverty even in developed countries This rationale led to the need of youth with disabilities’ active participation in political and public life as a condition for the very implementation of the state’s core treaties addressing the rights of persons with disabilities particularly UNCRPD12 August every year sees the commemoration of International Youth Day.
