14 years ago I thought I was in a good enough place to get a dog. I got a call from a friend at the SPCA saying come down now and look at this dog. In my b.d.u.s on my lunch break, I met a skinny, skidish, runt who had a tough start to life. I fell in love with him that minute. I signed papers and began preparing for a dog in my life. When I went to pick him up, it was let slip that he was scheduled to be destroyed later that day. Life took a sharp turn and I found myself leaving Virginia and heading for my parents house in New York. While I was not ready for my reality, Buddy was welcomed with open arms by my mom and Dad. For years they cared for him and his sister Syra. When she passed, we were in a position to care for Buddy the way my parents did. He joined his brother in Florida in 2011 and we were blessed with another dog in 2012. The three made a pack and were always together. Today we laid Buddy to rest. Age was kind in ways but cruel in others. He is now where he is happiest, in a rolling field, the sun shining on his blond Brendel coat with his sister. We love you Buddy. Rest in peace.
