14th July is one of the feasts of the Vodoo Lwa Simbi. Simbi is a serpent spirit who is a deity of water, and specifically holy or healing waters. He can appear in many guises including Simbi Makaya, the sorcerer, Simbi Ganga, the Warrior, and Simbi Aupaka whose speciality is revealing the properties of herbs and leaves - including the making of poisons. He is often depicted as a snake wriggling through a crossroads as he is a messenger between the deities and humanity, he can also be shown as a snake in a tree. His colours are green and white, he likes offerings of mangos and rum, and is equated with the Three Kings or Three Wise Men
