1am: went to sleep after getting Careaway situated as best as i could for todays deliveries. 5am: woke up 5:30: blew up huge retirement balloon bouquet for a doctors last day at athens regional 6:30: checked into st marys hospital 8am: two different nurses made FOUR different attempts to put an IV into my hand before they were corrected by anesthesiologist but only after blowing up one of veins to the size of a balloon. 9am: surgery (lights out for real) Noon: nurses make THREE different attempts to put in a catheter, which they usually install while u r asleep, before finally switching to a BIG enough one that would work (😜) .... during the whole catheter ordeal i diligently worked on my primal screaming which made the situation a bit better. 2pm: ate my first food of the day after requesting it. 3pm: genie left for work as we preplanned but my van broke down so damian kapcala picked her up 3:30: they gave me a flow max pill which helps u pee and I havent been able to stop ever since. 4pm: security guard harasses me questioning why i am walking the halls with an iv bag. I explain to her why and that i did indeed have permission. Not believing me she continued to harass me so i voluntarily walk with her to the nurses station so they too can also tell her to back off. (Nurses who i made good friends with were not happy w the guard at all which made me feel better) 4:30-6pm: helped damian do my careaway deliveries with several phone calls back and forth. 5:45pm: tape ripped off almost every part of my body that HAD hair! By far most painful part of day except for catheter experience which was mentally draining as well! Only so many things a man can detach from and be ok with! 6pm: damian checks me out of hospital and i fixed my van by putting it out of drive and into park before turning the ignition. 6:15: drove myself home and then to pharmacy (against doctors orders...man must always do what a man must do) but not before having to jump out of my van TWICE on way home to pee! 645: made dinner after caring for our animals 7: took my first pain meds since operation 8: watching jon stewart as if nothing out of the ordinary happened today. 8:30: so grateful to be alive, well & back home but very much missing my son who is with his grandparents. 10:00pm: chilling with my wife, extremely thankful, as always, for God watching out over me, friends/family praying for me and sending me positive energy and beyond grateful for the wonderful medical professionals at st marys who took such great care of me!!! ...i sincerely feel very blessed to be able to make use of the best health care system in the world.
