2 Peter 2:1-3 But false prophets also arose among the people, - TopicsExpress

2 Peter 2:1-3 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. I dont understand it when a sincere Christian tries to defend a false teacher. It is one thing, of course, to disagree on doctrine but quite another to call blasphemy doctrine. C.S. Lewis promotes heretical and blasphemous teachings, yet when confronted with what he actually taught, mainstream christianity circles the wagons in his defense. What they seem to be blinded to though, is that theyre aligning with them AGAINST the Word of God. 2 Chronicles 2 says, And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord. Isnt it helping the ungodly to favorably quote a heretic? Doesnt it help get his message out? Decide for yourselves, but I think it wiser to remove ones self completely from such a person and anything they teach. What is called mainstream Christianity today is more like Denominationalism. Those that call themselves Christian are more apt to defend their pastors, evangelist, church leaders and favorite authors and musicians when they stray from Gods Word than they are Jesus Himself! Look at the example of C.S. Lewis. I have, on more than one occasion, shared with a fellow confessing Christian what this man said and taught. He blasphemously called Jesus a sub-species of Apollo! And rather than be offended that someone they trusted said such blasphemy, they are offended that I told them and immediately defend Lewis! What were seeing today is what was happening in Israel under Ahab. 1 Kings 18:21 says, And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. If any preacher, pastor, singer or author teaches a heretical view contrary to Scripture, you are then faced with a choice. And choose you must, either stand on Gods Word or Lewis words or the false teacher of choice. But dont make excuses. Paul praised the Bereans for checking what he said against Gods Word, if only Christians would do the same today. I plan on sharing quotes in the future of Christian leaders who are teaching a different Gospel than what we are given in Scripture. These will not be doctrinal differences in opinions but out right heresy being taught by well respected (In mainstream Christianity anyway) men and women. For now well start with C.S. Lewis. Below I have listed some of his quotes. It is not meant to be exhaustive but enough to show that its not merely an error in judgment, but a continual pattern of heretical teachings. See for yourselves what this man believed and taught and then decide for yourselves; C.S. Lewis “I think that every prayer which is sincerely made EVEN TO A FALSE god or to a very imperfectly conceived true God, is accepted by the true God and that Christ saves many who do not think they know Him.” -Letters of C. S. Lewis, (New York, Harper and Row, 2001), p. 428. “as I believe, Christ, fulfills both Paganism and Judaism.”Reflections On The Psalms, (New York, Mariner Books 1964), p. 129. I do not at all regard mystical experience as an illusion. I think it shows that there is a way to go, before death, out of what may be called this world... One thing common to all mysticisms is that temporary shattering of our ordinary spatial and temporal consciousness and of our discursive intellect.- Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer (pp.63-65) Of course I pray for the dead. The action is so spontaneous, so all inevitable, that only the most compulsive theological case against it would deter me. And I hardly know how the rest of my prayers would survive if those for the dead were forbidden... Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer (p.107) (purgatory is) A process by which the work of redemption continues, and first perhaps begins to be noticeable after death. Letters of C.S. Lewis (pp. 246-247) The divine goodness differs from ours not as white and black but as a perfect circle from a childs first attempt to draw a wheel The Problem of Pain (p.39) I have the deepest respect for Pagan myths, still more for myths in the Holy Scriptures The Problem of Pain (p.71). I have therefore no difficulty accepting, say, the view of those scholars who tell us that the account of Creation in Genesis is derived from earlier Semitic stories which were Pagan and mythical. Reflections on the Psalms (p.110) God often makes prizes of humans who have given their lives for causes He thinks bad on the monstrously sophistical ground that the humans thought them good and were following the best they knew The Screwtape Letters (p.26) I had some ado to prevent Joy and myself from relapsing into Paganism in Attica! At Daphni it was hard not to pray to Apollo the Healer. But somehow one didnt feel it would have been very wrong - would have only been addressing Christ sub specie Apollinis. - C.S.
