2 Siblings Butcher Mother Over Alleged Witchcraft By: Patrick Ochoga on July 12, 2013 - 4:17am Lampese, a sleepy Community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, was thrown into grief over the weekend when a young lady identified as Omolayo Ojeifo (25) and her younger brother, Taiye (20), reportedly lured their mother, identified as Mrs Itowo Ojeifo, to a farm path and allegedly macheted her to death. LEADERSHIP FRIDAY learnt that Omolayo has been having issues with her mother, who accused her of being the force behind her inability to “progress in life” and has, on several occasions, accused her mother of bewitching her. However, she was said to have apologised to her mother few days to the incident, pleading for forgiveness and saying that she was misled into believing that her mother was responsible for her misfortunes. On the fateful day, Omolayo was said to have pleaded with her mother to accompany her somewhere and despite her mother’s excuse that she was busy with domestic jobs and would be unable to follow her at that time, she consistently entreated her. The mother finally abandoned the cassava she was said to be peeling and accompanied her daughter, ignorant of the fate which awaited her. An eye-witness, who was alleged to have been threatened by the suspects that he would be dealt with if he ever reported and what he had seen, was said to have rushed down to reported to the community. But before people could be mobilised to the scene, the woman had been killed by her children. Confirming the incident yesterday, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen, said that the incident happened on July 3, 2013, and that it was the former husband of the victim, a Mr Sunday Itowo, who made a formal report to the police. Eguavoen said that the suspects ran off to Uzebba, Owan West, but were arrested as a result of covert intelligence of the police. “The case will soon be transferred to the state command for further investigations,” he said.
