2006, the year when Tool mastered the effect, taking it even further than on their previous release, up to structural perfection, where every note, under the dictatorship of such candid fervency, seemed to bear immutable weight and struck like a thunderbolt, always at the right time. The sight was of a most perfect gyration between beauty and kitsch. But its the 2010s now, and nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself, art outran the warm ways of humane imperfection, and I feel like were ought to drown in a sea of over-subtlety and sobriety if we want what is left of our musical integrity to stay afloat, so, let us cloak our exuberance in a thick veneer of malaise.
