2012 was an ominous year for torture inquiries. Both Gibson (UK) and Durham (US) were shelved, both despite glaring omissions during fact finding process. Today, the latter was revived in Geneva thanks to the review conducted by the UNCAT panel - and in so, it appears that the Durham Inquiry had little chance to ever be fruitful: ex detainees were never interviewed.
