2013/2014 ELECTIONS 9/23! TONIGHT! BENICIA COMMUNITY CENTER, 370 E L St Benicia, CA 94510 On-Line Membership! This is your last chance for membership and participation in our 2013-2014 board elections, and other league wide processes. Becoming a member is simple: Login, and then use the link under Parents -> Membership Purchase to pay the $5 fee and become a member. About the Election Process Each year in September we hold our annual board elections. This is a time where you have the ultimate opportunity to volunteer your time and contribute to the Benicia Little League as a member or as Board Member. As we have posted on The Patch, we are currently conducting our membership drive which provides you voting rights for the Benicia Little League Board Elections this year. Membership requires filling out the Membership Form, payment of $5.00 and approval from the current board. Additionally, you will be assigned a league role to assist the operations of the league at a higher level than any previous level of volunteerism that you have most likely previously provided. Membership is an active role in Benicia Little League. Please contact Jennifer Gouvaia at volunteer@benicialittleleague for further details. Along with the membership drive we will be holding elections for the 2013-2014 Benicia Little League Board. All interested candidates should email Chuck Gray, President at president@benicialittleleague and CC Wiessner, our Information Officer at info@benicialittleleague with a little of your background, league interests, qualifications or previous little league roles and what position on the board that interests you the most. Please note that joining the BLL Board requires a great deal of time and commitment away from your normal day to day responsibilities. It requires a self starter who is not afraid of picking up the ball and running with it. We serve over 800 families year round. Our league has grown over 150 players in the last 2 years and there is no sign of seeing that stop. There is no shortage of work to be completed in Benicia Little League. Our voting process is pretty straight forward. All interested candidates will need to provide their interest in writing as stated above by Friday, September 20th, 2013 at 5PM to the President and Information Officer. Any applications received after this date will not be considered or included in a vote for the 2013-2014 board elections. As President, I will seek to the approval of our membership to expand our current board from 13 to 15 which is the current limit based on our constitution which you can find on our website. The board positions are filled based on the following process. Top 15 candidates (if voted by the membership) with the most votes. Votes will be counted the same night as the elections by two current designated board members. Once all 15 candidates have been voted into the board that group of 15 will meet within a couple days in a closed door meeting to vote on the President of the League. At such time the President will assign roles to the remaining 14 Board Members. The new board positions will be announced via email and posted to our website to our membership and current little league families within 2 weeks of the elections. The new board will immediately begin filling roles within the league utilizing its membership base to improve the overall league operations while strengthening the structure and leadership of our program. This is a great time to increase your volunteerism in Benicia Little League! We look forward to seeing our new members at the Board Elections on September 23rd, 2013 which will be held at the Benicia Community Center, Room #2, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
