2014 - The Year of No Singles - Day 78 From Faith No Mores sixth album, Album of The Year - 1997 Album of the Year starts out with a bang, with Mike Patton singing COLLISIONNNNNN at the top of his lungs, which then flows into the singles Stripsearch and Last Cup of Sorrow. I dont know why Collision was picked to lead off the album but NOT be a single, but I think its the perfect opening to the album, and easily as good as anything else on the album. Ashes to Ashes was also a single, and the only video I remember actually seeing from the album when it was new. For other songs to check out from the album, Helpless is also a great track, and provides a textbook lesson in how to bring a song to a crescendo, and Mouth to Mouth is great for some typical Faith No More weird grooviness. Sadly, this is Faith No Mores last album, but at least it was a return to form for the band after the somewhat lackluster King for a Day. It would have been really nice to hear what they would have done with another album with Jon Hudson on guitar, but unfortunately, this is their swansong unless something changes in the next few years. Definitely worth checking out though, especially since it was all but ignored when it was first released.
