The latest in the Weekend Movie Club I do with my friend Carries sons, this was a HUGE hit with the ten-year-old boys I watched this with; but even on my own second viewing, I couldnt help but to find this tiring and trite, less a standalone movie and more an excuse for all of us to stand around impatiently going, Say it! Say the lines! Say the lines from the original were all waiting for you to reference! I agree with Kevin Smith -- I liked Star Trek a lot more when it was talky and intellectual, not this J.J. Abrams strain, which seems to be nothing each time but two hours of, RUN, SPOCK! RRRUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!
