2014_10_15 AT JURIEN BAY WA - with Barbara Campbell Lot of catching up to do! So much has been happening and quite often have been out of internet coverage area. Barbara is able to send photos straight off her Galaxy but I have to download mine from Canon camera to computer first and it takes time. No wonder Jurien Bay is one of Western Australians favourite holiday places. Its ??? kms north of Perth, and accessible now by a fantastic bitumen road. On windless days (and there are not too many of them on the West Australian coast let me tell you) the water is a magnificent turquoise and the sand the whitest white youve seen. But dont get carried away by all the BS the WA Tourist Bureau put out about the great fishing over here. Every single fisherman we have spoken to, both local and tourist, has said the same thing. The fishing is CRAP! Unless you have a boat and are prepared to travel 80 kms out to sea with expensive fish-finders youre highly unlikely to catch a decent feed. As for fishing off jetties and wharfs ... forget it! The bloaties or puffer fish or toads ... whatever you want to call them ... will descend on your bait in their thousands. (To be continued)
